Those of you in the village will already know that Mick Perdue, my invaluable partner on the village hall project, died on Wednesday this week, at home with Maureen and their children Michael and Amy.

 

He was suddenly taken ill on the day before the Grand Opening on June 20th, and Maureen had taken him down to Musgrove so he missed the Great Event. We had joked that some people would go to any lengths to avoid being in the limelight.

However, he was subsequently diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas, which is a particularly nasty one to have, but I think we were all shocked at just how aggressive it turned out to be.

 

Mick and I spent over a year working together every day, and there is a lot of both of us in the fabric of the project. Unlike me, he was the most gentle and retiring of souls and many of you who have helped so much to make the project a success would not have known Mick had it not been for the hall.

 

The funeral is at Burtle Parish Church at 2.00 pm on Thursday October 15th and afterwards for tea and cakes at the village hall.

 

The family would be pleased to see any of you who would like to come as a small tribute to a quiet man.
